For this post, I'm reviewing MAC Shiny Pretty Things Start Lip Trio Kit from the MAC Holiday Collection 2018.
I went to the MAC store (I'm located in the Philippines) today because I'm looking for a highlighter stick but unfortunately they are out of stock but when I was just looking around and testing other potential products, I bumped into these beauties.
To be honest, I fell in love with these - specially after I tried them on. They are one of the best selling MAC lipsticks and it's really a bonus that they put all these beauties together for a reasonable price. The MAC Shiny Pretty Things Star Lip Trio Kit costs Php 2,800 against 3 full size lipsticks for Php 3,300 at Php 1,100 each.
I can say that this is already a good deal as you saved Php 500 getting 3 full size MAC lipsticks! This offer is perfect as a gift but as for me, I bought this for myself because of course, I'm a makeup addict! :)

Another good thing about this trio is they came with a very cute packaging - it shows the actual color of the lipstick itself from the outside which you can already tell that - 1.) It's limited edition and 2.) If you already have a stash of MAC lipsticks, this is going to be easy for you to see the color of the lipstick by the container itself without looking at the label. There's no need to open to see the actual shade of the product.
Here's what I like about the shades:
Kinda Sexy is very wearable because it's a nude color, perfect for everyday if you want to like a go-to shade, this is the shade for you. This is also a universal MAC lipstick shade so it looks good on everyone.
Russian Red is one of the best matte shades I can find in the market. I've tried different brands trying to look for a red lipstick that will fit to my medium skin tone (I'm NC40 by the way) aside from MAC Ruby Woo. This is a life saver if you are in a hurry and have no time to put any makeup on your face - just a red lipstick does the trick!
Flat Out Fabulous is another Retro Matte shade in my bucket list because this beauty is always sold out! I got really excited when I found out that this shade is available in this kit, thanks for the MAC Holiday Collection. This lipstick shade is stunning! This is perfect for night out and special occasions but for me, I would use this whenever I feel like using it because I love love love it!
There are personal tips that I would like to share with you when wearing MAC lipsticks:
- MAC lipsticks tend to be drying on the lips, the best thing to do is to prime your lips with a lip balm first to condition your lips or use an actual lip primer before you put them on.
- You may also exfoliate your lips before you put on your favorite lip balm or primer, this will also serve as a good canvass for your lips before you put on any lipstick product specially those liquid lipsticks.
- If you may want to tone down the color - these shades for example, Flat Out or Russian Red because you think they really screams for attention... mix it with Kinda Sexy lipstick shade on top - trust me, you'll get a more neutral color... you're welcome.
